In The Way

Carrera de Las Charolas in Antigua

This morning Spencer, Libby, Valerie, and I went to Parque Central to watch the ¨Carrera de Las Charoles¨or ¨The Platter Race¨. It was awesome.
I´m not sure how many people ran exactly, but if I had to guess I would guess somewhere around 250 people.

The race was a mile long and required not only speed, but style. Participants were ordered to wear black pants with a white short topped with a black bowtie and a black vest. Each participant carried a platter with water, beer, gatorade, and soda on it.

Points were based on time + style + whether the bottles or anything fell in the process.

It didn´t last long, but it sure was fun to watch.

This is the start of the race, from last year. Photo courtesy of antiguadailyphoto.com

It was a great way to start the day, and a very unique and fun tradition!

Nobody tripped or fell as far as I could tell!
