In The Way

A Sabbath of Sorts

Good day today.

Slept in.

Read Confessions of an Economic Hit Man. Finished Chapter 18.

Didn’t eat breakfast. Saved the breakfast tamale for dinner.

Ate lunch at Porta Hotel Antigua, a lunch buffet with the group, then went for a swim.

Took a hot shower. For once.

Played Wii Golf. Got a Bogey on the first hole.

Watched a parade by our house with an excellent trumpet player.

Went to Mass.

Mass finished with a 30 minute long procession around the neighborhood. Lots of fireworks, white candles, songs in Spanish.

Had coffee and cookies outside the church, talked with 3 Guatemalan men in Spanish about Starbucks. Did you know there’s an Antigua blend?

Came home to 6 French people relaxing. None of them spoke Spanish. I became the translator from their limited English into Spanish.

E-mailed Larry Schirmer.

Elder joked with me that he would be sleeping in the car parked outside my bedroom door tonight. I thought he was messing with me. He wasn’t.

Texted Valerie Sartor.

Reading more Confessions of an Economic Hit Man.

A good day.

  1. A day of simple, beautiful things. Thanks for sharing! Can’t wait for you to come “home,” but pray that your can treasure all your remaining days and experiences!

    • This is the most surprising comment I’ve ever received! I posted this, and then changed the status to private because I didn’t think it was worth changing! I guess that status didn’t last for long! Thanks for the encouragement!
